Welcome!

The Dwarf Athletic Association of America is a nonprofit organization created in 1985 to develop, promote, and provide quality amateur level athletic competition opportunities for dwarf athletes in the United States. DAAA athletes compete in track & field athletics, basketball, boccia, swimming, table tennis, badminton, volleyball and soccer.

DAAA is a self-sustaining organization that models fair competition and competitive excellence. Whether the intent is recreational, developmental or elite competitions, DAAA provides the context for each athlete's potential to be taken seriously and provides an opportunity for each athlete to be their best.

We hope you find this site useful. Here you will find information about athletic events, competition records, contacts for more information about dwarfism, sports resources, and how you can participate with and support our athletes and our organization. Enjoy!

Our Mission

The Dwarf Athletic Association of America is committed to providing athletic competition, guidance, support, and information to people of short stature and to their families. You are welcome to contact us for more information about our organization, our annual DAAA National Games and the quadrennial World Dwarf Games.

Every level of ability and skill is welcomed and supported.

DAAA is dedicated to serving the estimated quarter million people in the United States of America who have any of the more than 200 forms of dwarfism as a result of skeletal dysplasia or related causes. Our mission is to encourage all people with dwarfism to participate in sports.

2014 National Games

DAAA will be hosting the 27th DAAA National Games during the LPA Conference in San Diego, California from Saturday July 5, 2014 thru Wednesday July 9, 2014. The preliminary list of sports that will be offered include swimming, track & field, boccia, soccer, basketball, badminton, table tennis, football, kurling and volleyball. These are subject to change based on facility and schedule availability.

DAAA’s National Games registration packet will be available on this website from April 1, 2014 through June 1, 2014. An additional registration fee will apply for registrations postmarked after June 1st.

DAAA encourages all athletes of short stature to participate in the National Games regardless of their ability level or skill. There is no organization membership required to participate in these Games; however a Games registration fee will be assessed to all participants.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND UPDATES:

  • Athletes are REQUIRED to bring a current Medical Evaluation to the games unless you plan to play Boccia only. Because Medical Evaluations are good for two years, if one was done for the World Dwarf Games in 2013, DAAA should have that record. If you haven't had a physical since the Dallas Games in 2012 or this is your first time participating in the DAAA Games, you will need to have a new Medical Evaluation. Questions regarding the status of your Medical Evaluation should be directed to daaa@flash.net. Medical Form
  • Open and Master athletes participating in swimming and/or track and field must complete classification measurement requirements. This has been incorporated into the registration material.
  • The cut-off date for determining the correct age division is now December 31. Example: An athlete who turns 16 on December 1, 2014 will be classified in the Open Division for the National Games even though he/she will be 15 at the time of the competition. Please be aware of this when you register.
  • There will be no on-site additions for Track and Field events on July 5, 2014.
  • Minimum team size for football, volleyball and basketball is ten players per team with a maximum team size of twelve players.
  • Minimum team size for soccer is twelve players per team with a maximum team size of fifteen players per team.
  • DAAA maintains the right to fill incomplete team rosters with independent players at DAAA's discretion.
  • Athletes are not permitted to "play up" a Division for the team sports of basketball, volleyball, football, or soccer.
  • Volunteers are always needed and welcome! Thank you!

REGISTRATION:

  • For the first time, DAAA has established an ability to register electronically. Electronic registration was available for the World Dwarf Games but the DAAA has updated the process to make it easier for the athletes and less expensive for the organization. If you have problems or concerns, please email DAAA at daaa@flash.net.
  • While we encourage everyone to register electronically, we recognize that is not always possible. For those who wish to register via paper, a pdf document can be found here. Registration Form
